The Best Arab Publisher award, valued at AED 25,000, is awarded to a Arab publishing house in its contribution to the development of Arabic literature. It rewards publishers who have contributed to the cultural and intellectual growth of the Arab world by producing innovative and high-quality publications.
The Best International Publisher Award

The Best International Publisher Award

The Best International Publisher award, valued at AED 25,000, is awarded to an international publishing house that has made a great contribution to the literature world. The award recognizes publishers that promote cross-cultural interaction and international literary diversity.

Participation Conditions

    1. Publishers must actively participate in the current Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF).
    2. Must have a minimum of ten titles published in the same year as the current SIBF.
    3. The nominated publisher must not have received a similar award previously.
    4. SIBF organizers will retain submitted documentation and will not return it.

    Required Documentation:

    To be considered for nomination, publishers must provide the following:

    1. Publisher Overview: A concise summary outlining the nominated publisher's orientation, specialization, and adherence to professional standards.
    2. Contact Information: Complete contact details of the nominee, including mailing address, phone number(s), and email.
    3. Identification Document: A copy of the passport or identification card of the publishing house owner.

Arbitration and Criteria

  1. The announcement for the next award cycle occurs annually after the conclusion of the current SIBF.
  2. Nominations for the awards close in mid-September of each year.
  3. Winners are officially announced at the start of the current SIBF.
  4. Awards are presented in the presence of the winners' representatives during the ongoing SIBF.

Evaluation Criteria

A specialized committee will evaluate publishers based on the following criteria:

  1. Reputation and Quality: Demonstrated reputation for maintaining high standards of quality and ethical practices.
  2. Specialization: Clear specialization in a particular genre or field.
  3. Professional Standards: Strict compliance with publishing requirements, intellectual property regulations, and authors' rights.
  4. Societal Impact: Publication of titles that contribute significant scientific value and address the needs of crucial societal sectors.
  5. Editorial Art: Active enhancement of the art of manuscript editing through published works.
  6. Membership: Preferable membership in a publisher's association in their home country, and active membership in regional and international associations is highly encouraged.
