About Sharjah International Book Fair

His Highness Message

Those of us who enjoy reading in the emirate of Sharjah are very keen to create a reading community and promote the benefits of reading among children. For that reason we provide the best, most suitable books for all the family. We believe that books must be available to all and from this concept we turn book fairs into an oasis of knowledge and enlightenment.

H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi

  1. Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.

About Sharjah International Book Fair

Established in 1982 by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Sharjah International Book Fair was founded to realise a vision of building a nation of readers and placing books at the heart of society.

Held over 12 days, SIBF is a global cultural and literary gathering that brings together millions of books and a wide international audience. With sales exceeding USD 50 million, the fair offers book lovers the opportunity to explore and acquire titles from around the world, while connecting authors, publishers, and industry professionals through meetings and discussions on current trends and future opportunities in publishing.

Today, SIBF is recognised as the third largest book fair in the world and one of the most prestigious cultural events in the Arab region. It holds membership in several international organisations and has been recognised by the International Publishers Association.

Alongside its exhibitions, SIBF presents a diverse programme of literary events, including author signings, panel discussions, and professional workshops. Through educational initiatives, the Publishers Conference, and a range of respected awards, the fair continues to support readers, encourage creativity, and contribute to innovation across the publishing industry.
